Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)

What is UTAP?

UTAP is a training benefit designed to help NTUC members offset their training costs, encouraging them to pursue skills upgrading.

NTUC members can enjoy 50% unfunded* course fee support, capped at $250 per year, for courses approved under UTAP. For members aged 40 and above, the funding support increases to $500 annually.

Step 2: Register and attend the course

Step 3: Log in to your U Portal account to submit your UTAP application.

*NTUC members must apply for their UTAP claim within 6 months of course completion. Late submissions will not be accepted.

  • You must hold an active NTUC membership before the course starts, throughout its duration, and at the time of submitting your claim.
  • The course provider must be approved under UTAP, with the training taking place within the designated support period.
  • The course cannot be fully covered by company sponsorship or any other funding sources.
  • The *out-of-pocket course fee must be at least S$20.
  • You must attend at least 75% of the course sessions and complete all required examinations (if applicable).
  • Claims must be submitted within six months after the course is completed.

*Unfunded course fee refers to the balance course fee payable after applicable government subsidy. This excludes GST, registration fees, misc. fees etc.

  • Access the NTUC website: Visit the official NTUC site to begin your application.
  • Navigate to Programmes: Click on the “Programmes” tab in the top navigation bar.
  • Select Skills Training: From the drop-down menu, choose “Skills Training.”
  • Go to UTAP: Locate “UTAP” on the right-hand side of the page and click on it.
  • Apply Now: Scroll to the bottom of the UTAP page and click “Apply UTAP Now.”
  • Log in or register: Sign in to your NTUC membership account
  • Choose your course: Select the course you want to take and complete the online application form.
  • Submit your application: Finalise your application and await a confirmation email from NTUC.

To check your NTUC membership status, follow these steps:
  • Visit the NTUC website: Access the official NTUC site.
  • Navigate to Membership: Click on the “Membership” tab in the top navigation bar.
  • Choose Membership Privileges: Select “Membership Privileges” from the drop-down menu.
  • Locate Membership Status Check: Click on “Membership Status Check” on the right-hand side of the page.
  • Enter your details: Provide your NRIC or FIN number and click “Submit.”
  • View your status: Your membership status will appear on the next page.
